In Collaboration with the United Kingdom’s Embassy, Journalist in Distress (JED) is organizing from 05 to 07 April, in Lubumbashi, in the south-east of the Country, a training workshop on “The journalist’s Safety during the electoral period”. Nearly thirty Lubumbashi Media Professionals are going to learn some basical knowledge and techniques to guarantee their physical safety during the electoral period. According to several observers’ opinion, the period is likely to be hostile for guys whose profession consists of saying what they see and hear. The Lubumbashi Workshop is the second after the one held in Kinshasa from 22 to 24 March. The third Workshop on the same theme is to be held in Bukavu at the end of April. While considering that the zero Risk does not exist, JED would like the journalists to always bear in mind the notion of danger, without falling in some sort of Paranoia.
